Pros:
Open layout, plenty of room, friendly staff, amazing city and ocean views, walkable location, beautiful architecture, historic charm, refreshing pool, great price, resident bat (at the time of our trip)

Cons:
Old/ outdated furniture, hard beds (but you get used to them), leaks in the ceiling/roof in the living room and upper room, cold water in the upper bathroom, and all the other pieces of "character" that come with an old building 

Overall:
This place is great! I'd recommend it to anyone, especially groups.

We travel for a vacation once a year to Puerto Vallarta and the last  2 years we stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel in Puenta Mita, friends of our stayed at Casa Maricielo twice and highly recommended it.  We have never rented a villa before and decided to give it a try.The villa is a architects dream, filled with art works and an exceptional staff.   Isabelle the housekeeper, Leo the Cook and her son David were exceptionally accommodating, helping us make plans for day to day activities and of course cooking our meals.  This villa price wise, is a terrific bargain.   
 
We give  Casa Maricielo a 10 plus and our stay will be remembered. Fireworks and Mexican music every night below.  A great trip, we will return next year

We have been to PV many times and this is the second time we have stayed in a villa.  This experience was wonderful.  Although the steps were a challenge for some of our group it gave us a sense of achievement to make it up and down during our stay :).  We were a group of eight with ages ranging from 21-61.  There was enough room so no one felt crowded.  We loved having breakfast prepared for us every morning and Leo even prepared the food so we could just warm it up for our Superbowl party - excellent enchiladas with guacamole and salsa.  David was very helpful whenever we needed transportation and he even was able to help when one of our party lost her credit card on the beach.  We will definitely look at booking again if we return with a large party!

This was our second trip to Puerto Vallarta staying at Casa Maricielo. Since we have been in the past we knew what to expect and were not disappointed. The historic feel of this spacious home provided the ambiance and views second to none. Although my sister complained of the comfort of the beds, I feel the service and hospitality provided by Leo, David and Isabel, as well as the view, certainly makes up for any feeling of roughing it she may have felt. They were great hosts and made us feel at home. Leo and David provided wonderful meals and Isabel kept us in clean linens and pool towels. 

This home is exactly as described in the listing; not one bad surprises anywhere. The rustic Mexican feel of the house is exactly what I was hoping for and I was not disappointed.  Casa Maricielo and its pool are well maintained and kept clean at all times. 
Overall, beds and furniture inside out were comfortable and appropriate enough for the home. 

Our group loved staying in just as much as we loved going out to the esplanade, church, shops, bars and clubs. Lunch was almost always at the small seafood joints near Playa Los Muertos . 

The house is amazing big, spacious and has the best view in puerto vallarta, very recomended. About 4 blocks away from the Pier and all the good restaurants and clubs.

Thanks to the home staff it was an outstanding service
